A harvest-raising landowner called a dog walker a “fat boy” who had strayed into his farm during an extraordinary rant in a group.
American Philip Adkins was in full eventing gear as he shouted from the saddle of his horse: “You’re trespassing! Get off my property!”
A few minutes later, he took his horse back to his stables and then returned to a golf buggy and reprimanded three walkers for letting his German shepherd run loose.
As one of the group recorded him, Mr. Adkins exclaimed: “Go ahead – post this on Facebook, fat boy!”
The trio claimed that they had inadvertently wandered into Mr Adkins’s estate near Peterborough, Cambs.
But he was reportedly warned on two previous occasions that his dog should be let loose as sheep and calves were grazing nearby.
But in Tuesday’s clash, Mr. Adkins was recorded shouting: “It’s not the sidewalk, idiot! Don’t tell me what to do on my property.”
Pointing to his golf buggy with a crop, he also told them: “You have a dangerous dog that was not under your control.”
In another clip, Mr. Adkins threatened to take the law into his own hands if he saw the dog loose again.
The vacationers said they were in shock and returned home early.
One said, “We were all afraid for our lives.
They started making lewd comments on us, even calling me a ‘fat boy’.”
Police said that they are probing the incident.
Mr. Adkins told last night: “The British countryside values civility and the rule of law. I’ve always welcomed anyone who sticks to these.”
