Rylan Clarke-Neal joked that she was downloading the dating app Grindr only a few months after separating from husband Dan.
The 32-year-old is said to have been divorcing his partner after attempts to save his six-year marriage failed.
Rylan was presenting the Icon Award to pop group Steps at tonight’s Attitude Awards.
As he stepped onto the stage, he looked down at his phone to see what he was seeing.
Rylan joked to the crowd that he was holding back on dating apps because he held up his phone to speak at the lecture.
“Sorry guys, I was a little distracted, I’ve been trying to download Grindr, it’s been 10 minutes,” as some in the crowd laughed, while others gasped in shock at his comments.
“What year it is, I’m really thrilled to be here.”
Rylan then explained the pop group’s move and took the time to call out Claire Richards as they fought back in tears.
“One of the members of this band is like a sister to me and has supported me for the last four months in probably the most difficult time of my life and without her, I don’t think I would be able to present this award here, “Rylan admitted, getting emotional.
The TV presenter made a rare red carpet appearance at the Attitude Awards tonight.
And it was a real blast from the past as he brought along X Factor friend Lucy Spraggan as his date for the night.
Presenter Rylan shied away from public condemnation, but occasionally joined them with her ex-husband Dan.
In June of this year, Rylan spoke out about his marital problems, four months away from his TV roles and BBC 2 radio show to focus on his mental health and personal life.
In a heartfelt statement, he said he was ‘seeking help’ as he was ‘not in a good place’.
But, the star appeared to be in great excitement this evening with Lucy, which he appeared in at the 2012 music contest.
The awards are to benefit the Attitude Magazine Foundation, which raises funds for LGBT causes.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at Camden Roundhouse in London, which included musical performances from Steps, Paige and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Bimini.
