The cast of Sam Fender, Sigrid, Griff, Biffy Clyro and more teamed up to perform a live cover of Foo Fighters’ Times Like These.

The acts came together for a special edition on BBC Radio 1’s Out! 2021 live event at the O2 Arena in London.

The above cast also included AJ Tracy, Dan Smith of Bastille, Dermot Kennedy and Mimi Webb. It follows an at-home charity cover of Fooz’s song, created by some of music’s biggest names last year, which went on to top the Official UK Singles Chart.

While Tracy added a new rap verse to the track in 2020, he changed the lyrics during the previous night’s (October 16) version. “We can never take our freedom for granted / The seeds of community trees have been sown,” a piece of his part went.

Speaking about the cover of the Live Lounge All-Stars last year, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters said the singing made him “fight to tears.”

“The response has been incredible and I want to thank you all for your support,” he wrote in a letter to the BBC. “When my manager first told me about the project and explained it, I literally fought back tears – how glad I was that the BBC would consider one of my songs for such an important cause.

“To all the wonderful artists who took the time to learn and sing the words that were written on hotel stationery almost 20 years ago – I’m beyond humble. You have no idea. I hope this new version of the song appeals to people.” Will help lift the excitement a bit, and that we’re donating to Comic Relief and Children in Need reach as many people affected by COVID-19 as possible.”
