Schoolboy taken to hospital after stabbing in Purley alleyway

A schoolboy in uniform is taken to a hospital after being stabbed in a street in south London.

Police said the condition of the 16-year-old was not life-threatening and another 16-year-old boy was found with a head injury at 4:45 pm on Brighton Road, Purley.

An eyewitness claimed that he had seen a masked man fleeing the scene on Monday.


one viewer told mylandan: “While I was on my way back from work, I saw a masked man hurriedly leaving the scene.

“A school student was stabbed in the lower part of the chest. An ambulance and an air ambulance reached the spot within 10 minutes.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called on Monday to reports of a stabbing at Brighton Road, Purley.

“Officers attended with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS). A 16-year-old boy was found with a stab wound.

“Another 16-year-old boy had a minor head injury.

“The boy with stab wounds has been taken to the hospital. We are waiting for an update on his condition.”

No arrests have been made.
