Gomez shared a video of herself reacting to the CDC’s definition of a ‘heavy’ drinker
Selena Gomez hit back at a social media user who previously called out the musician for drinking “excessively” despite a kidney transplant.
29-year-old Gomez recently shared a TikTok video of herself reacting to Dr. Don Bantel, a naturopath, who defined what it means to be a “heavy” drinker medically.
“NS [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] “Heavy drinking is defined as 15 or more drinks a week for men and eight or more drinks per week for women,” Bantle said in the video.
Gomez jokingly bit her nails and said “oh” as she overheard Bantle discussing the amount of drinks men and women drink per week. She captioned TikTok, “It’s a joke.”

One TikTok user didn’t take it as a joke as the person called out Gomez for drinking “excessively”.
“So one of your best friends gives you his kidney and you keep on drinking heavily. Damn it Selena,” user wrote,
“It was a joke-,” Gomez replied. The composer has since deleted the comment, according to People Magazine.
Gomez first revealed to fans that she had had a kidney transplant since the summer of 2017.

Gomez began her post at the time, saying, “I know some of my fans noticed that I was lying low for parts of the summer and questioned why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which is why I didn’t like it. But I was very proud.” “So I found out I needed a kidney transplant because of my lupus and I was recovering.”
“There are no words to describe how I can thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” wrote Gomez. “He gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating his kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sister.”
