Shamima Begum has turned from jihadi to lipstick-clad “Love Islander” as she appeared in her first live broadcast today.
The former ISIS bride, 22, spoke at Good Morning Britain with her hair down in a black Nike baseball cap, gray vest top and lipstick.
Her look was totally different as compared to her previous interviews where she appeared without hijab and makeup.
Social media users took to Twitter to comment on her new look and some even compared her to Love Island contestants.
One said: “Shamima Begum is having a big glow. I’m sure she’s on Love Island next year.”
Another said: “Shamima Begum at GMB is wearing a Nike baseball cap from her latest line. She’s got an outlet store at Prison Camp?”
Someone added: “Shamima Begum will apply for Love Island next.”
Another user said: “Shamima Begum prepares herself to join Love Island in a PR stunt to prove that she is no longer a terrorist.”
After marrying a Dutch-born fighter, Shamima left the UK at the age of 15 to join a death cult with two school friends, before living in the group’s so-called caliphate.
After the defeat of ISIS, Britain resurfaced in February 2019 at the al-Hawal refugee camp in north-eastern Syria, desperate to return to Britain – but showed little remorse for its involvement with the terrorist organisation.
After being interviewed several times by Western media, body language expert Judy James gave her assessment of Shamima’s changing appearance online.
Earlier this year, Judy said, “Everything here is presenting Begum in a very different way, from her more western clothing to her body language and her style of speaking.
“She now walks with confidence and her gesture is loud. She wears a very casual t-shirt, jeans and a baseball cap and her speech has sped up and now shows the ability to share humor and quick reactions.
“She pretends she’s watching popular American TV shows like Friends, even exchanging jokes about whether she likes Joey or Chandler.
“It all seems to project a desire to integrate if he is allowed to return to the UK.”
In 2019, the government stripped Shamima of her British citizenship on security grounds, with the Supreme Court ruling unanimously that she could not return to the UK.
She then lost her court appeal earlier this year and has been in a bid to appear radical since then.
Earlier today, Shamima suggested that a country should not deport her for no one’s fault when they were 15 – adding that she would “die” rather than go back to Isis.
The Londoner said: “If ISIS were to come back now, if they would come to the door now and say, ‘Who wants to join us?’ and ‘Whoever will not join us, we will kill them’.
“I would prefer to die. I would rather die than go back to Isis.”
Wearing a strappy top, dyed nails, and letting her hair down, Shamima suggested she was too young to fully understand what she was going through when she joined IS – adding that she could easily may be affected by.
“I think yes, I was framed and taken advantage of and manipulated to come,” she told GMB.
And she said that at the time she didn’t know that Isis was “a death cult”.
He continued: “I thought it was an Islamic community I was joining.
“There was a lot of information being given to me on the internet by ISIS people that I needed to come because I couldn’t be a good Muslim in the UK.”
