The Inspiration 4 crew spent three days in orbit before splashing down in the Atlantic Ocean last weekend
Billionaire Elon Musk said SpaceX is already planning some upgrades for its next flight after the successful mission of the all-civilian Inspiration 4 crew earlier this month.
Musk tweeted on Monday that he met with the Inspiration4 crew to congratulate the members on the historic flight. After the meeting, the SpaceX founder suggested that the firm’s crew could use a bathroom upgrade on the Dragon space capsule.
“Definitely the upgraded toilet 🙂 We had some challenges with this flight,” Musk joked on Twitter.
The Inspire 4 crew spent three days in orbit before splashing down into the Atlantic Ocean off the Florida coast last weekend. This mission was the first mission in history to orbit the Earth without a professional astronaut.
Taking questions from Twitter followers, Musk also teased other possible upgrades for the Dragon capsule.
“Yeah, a little oven to heat food and Starlink WiFi,” Musk said in reference to his satellite Internet initiative.
Crew members of the Inspiration4 mission included billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, who bought all four seats, as well as St. Jude Hospital employee Hayley Arsinaux, data engineer Chris Sembroxy and college professor Sean Proctor.

The roof of the Crew Dragon capsule contained a bathroom. Business Insider reported in July that the bathroom features a 360-degree glass dome looking out to the space.
“It’s not a ton of privacy. But you have this kind of veil of privacy that cuts across the top of the spacecraft, so you can isolate yourself from everyone else,” Isaacman told the outlet. “And it also happens where there’s a glass dome. So, you know, when people inevitably have to use the bathroom, they’ll have a hell of a scene.”
