‘Squid Game’ creator says Donald Trump “resembles one of the VIPs”

Producers of Netflix’s Breakout Shows squid game has said that Donald Trump’s presidency helped promote the show’s release.

Hwang Dong-hyuk conceived the ideas for the first time squid game Back in 2008 during the global financial crisis, but it wasn’t until the rise of the tech giant and the Trump presidency over the next 10 years that producers believed the show’s premise would resonate with audiences.

talking to IndieWire About Trump, Hwang said: “I think he kind of looks like one of the VIPs squid game. It’s almost like he’s running a game show, not a country, scaring people. After having all these issues, I thought it was time for the show to go out into the world. “

In the show, VIP characters are masked members of the wealthy elite who watch and gamble on contests, all while contestants put their lives on the line to win a massive cash prize in a series of games.

A second season hasn’t been confirmed, though the popularity of the show — potentially the most successful Netflix show ever — means there’s hope for a sequel.

“I feel like I have an obligation to explain it to the fans and I’m thinking about season two, but at the time, I was so tired after finishing season one, I’m really not thinking about season two. Could think,” Hwang said about the show’s follow up of unanswered questions.

“But now that it’s become such a big hit, people will hate me if I don’t make a second season, so I feel a lot of pressure and I feel like I have to. The huge success of season one is a huge reward for me. But at the same time it has given me a lot of pressure as well.”

Producers recently discussed possible ideas for a sequel, including switching the focus to The Front Man.

Cast member Wai Ha-joon, who plays policeman Joon Ho on the show, has also addressed the possibility of a follow-up, saying that he looks forward to a return.
