Running between October 1-7, Steam Next Fest is “a multi-day celebration of upcoming games” that will offer demos, developer livestreams, and chats with the teams currently building the title.
Originally called the Steam Game Festival, the revived Steam Next Fest also had an event in June. More than 700 demos were available for free, where games such as Naraka: Bladepoint and sable Demos were available for players to try out.
The number of demos at October’s Steam Next Fest hasn’t been revealed yet, possibly due to the fact that Valve is still open to registration from developers who are interested in featuring a game during the event. Registration closes for developer demo on August 15th, more details may be out found here.
Undoubtedly many players will be considering getting some of these games for the Steam deck when it launches later this year. Steam Deck will also get rid of the existing ‘Big Picture Mode’ in favor of a new UI.
A Valve spokesperson said, “We are replacing Big Picture with the new UI from Deck. However we have no ETA to share.”
In other news, the producers of spelunky A recent Game Developers Conference comparing difficulty in video games to spicy food, “Difficulty is only part of the equation. It’s the hot part of spicy food.”
Producer Derek Yu said, “For people who don’t like spicy food, it can be hard to understand why fans of spicy food love it so much. If you’re just starting your spicy food journey, you may be tempted to taste the food.” Can’t taste it, only the heat. And the pain.”
