The judges saved him for making a “catastrophic” mistake and scored him only 21 points.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to see Dan’s “distasteful” reaction after some contestants scored higher than him.

One wrote: “I wish there was a way to see #Strictly that was literally just a camera in front of @mrdanwalker’s face. He’s so indifferent to everyone else he’s got a low score now!”

Another posted: “Dan looks so indifferent when someone scores more than him. #Strictly”

“Dan’s face when Johannes and John finished dancing… Priceless. #StrictlyComeDancing,” said a third.

Despite being wrong on the dance floor – the presenter was still awarded seven from the chief justice.

It was the same score he gave to Judy Love and Sarah Davis who danced in front of him.

Anton Du Beke said: “You got it wrong and I’m totally sorry for you because I was going to give you 25 points.”

Craig Revell Horwood told the journalist that he “really needs to work on his arms, they’re not working like they should.”

But Shirley Ballas came to the rescue and told Dan: “At first I wasn’t disappointed in you at all, Dan.

“people make mistakes.”

She said: “We’re only in week three, don’t be hard on yourself. I think you’re doing amazingly well.

“Keep working on your feet, like everyone else, but you likely have that beautiful vertical line, well done.”

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman after his score, Dan admitted he was disappointed in himself.

But taking a positive stance on what happened, Dan said: “The whole point of this program is that people who can’t dance are learning to dance.

“Part of the process of learning to dance is that you make mistakes.

“I know millions are watching and I feel like I let Nadia down.

“I love this show because people make mistakes and then they get better. Hopefully I get another chance.”

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn was given the boot after a tense dance with Loose Women star Judy Love.

Dan will return on Saturday hoping to impress the judges with his uncle.
