He added: ‘A quick update. Just got the procedure done and talked to the doctor, she is really happy with how everything went.

‘A bit upset, so go home and rest and get well in the next few days.

‘I just want to wish all the contestants the best that I am completely disappointed that I can’t dance this week, that I won’t be there.

‘But can’t wait to get back and fly next week, so good luck everyone I’ll be cheerleading from the couch. Take care and I will see you soon.’

She said: ‘We are doing everything we can to get Yugo back on his fast feet and dancing again’.

In the wake of Yugo’s injury, viewers took to social media, with one writing: ‘I think everyone should be scored but get a free pass in the first week like next week.

“It’s only fair given the departure of Robert (Webb) and the one week missing of Yugo.”

Another wrote: ‘BTW not saying yugo shouldn’t get a free pass, he believes in and that’s always the rule!!! But imo it seems kinda unfair that there’s still an alim this week, all things considered, what a hot mess of a week.

Another said: ‘It would be nice to know if they still do as Yugo is out this week with a back injury.’

MailOnline has contacted a Strict representative for comment.

Ugo announced on Thursday evening that he would not participate in Saturday’s show due to injury.

This came a day after another contestant, Robert Webb, was forced to leave the show due to ill health.

Ugo wrote to fans on Thursday, ‘Unfortunately I will not be able to dance on this weekend show.

‘I have a history of back problems which have always been managed under the guidance of medical professionals. Unfortunately this is causing me some unwanted problems this week!

‘I have been advised by medical professionals and with heavy support from Strictly to do some treatment and rest to ensure that I can bring myself back to full potential and be fit for the next week.’

Yugo concluded that he was ‘desperate’ not to return to the dance floor this weekend with professional partner Oti.
