Laundry’s father found his son’s bag

Bertolino said Laundry’s parents told the FBI and the North Port Police Department on Tuesday night that they intended to search the park Wednesday morning. Law enforcement met him there on Wednesday morning.

When Chris Laundry came off a trail of “zigzagging in different areas” the parents walked along the trail with law enforcement personnel and found a white bag in some brambles. Bertolino said Chris Laundry was then found by law enforcement officers, who found a backpack and remains.

Petito and Laundry were high school attendees on Long Island, New York.

Laundry returned to his parents’ home in Florida, where he was living alone with Pettito. Laundry is the only person interested in Petito’s death. He has not been charged in Pettito’s death, but he faces charges of unauthorized use of a debit card and multiple accounts involving more than $1,000. The documents do not state to whom the cards or accounts belong.

The indictment also accuses Laundry of unauthorized access to a device and states that she accessed bank accounts without permission from about August 30 to September 1.

Signs of troubled relations emerged

After Petito went missing, police videos revealed problems between the couple, and officers separated Pettito and laundry for a night after a domestic dispute turned into a physical one.

In Utah, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office issued a 911 call from August 12 in which the caller says he left the couple’s van and saw “the gentleman was slapping the girl.”
