A 19-year-old man was shot and killed by a teen who tried to rob in the parking lot of Brooklyn BJ’s Wholesale Club store late Thursday night.
Derek Chen, 19, of Bensonhurst, was in the upper-level parking area of the Shore Parkway store in Bath Beach with a friend at around 10:15 p.m. when an 18-year-old suspect approached him and forced him into the elevator alone, officials said.
Police said Chen and the suspect took the elevator from the third to the first floor.
Police said as soon as they got off the lift, the suspect snatched the chain bag.
Officials said that when Chen struggled to get him back, the killer pulled out a gun and hit him in the face and right shoulder.
Police said Chen — who lived about 2 miles from the scene — was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the juvenile gunman was arrested a short time later and a gun was recovered at the scene.
Charges are pending, and the suspect was not immediately identified by authorities.
in a statement Issued to WCBSBJ called the shooting a “terrible tragedy”.
“BJ’s Wholesale Club joins our Bath Beach community in mourning the loss of the victim and condemns any form of violence,” the statement read. “The safety and security of our BJ members, team members and community is our top priority, and we are working with local authorities and security experts to ensure the safest environment possible.”
