Connecticut – A police investigation was underway into the stabbing of a teenager at an apple festival in Southington.
A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death at around 8 p.m. Saturday at the Southington Apple Harvest Festival.
After reports of a major fight in front of the town hall and near a medical tent, police responded and found the boy stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
According to police, the victim was assisted by medical personnel in a nearby tent.
A 17-year-old was taken into custody and charged with disturbing the peace. Police also said that they have recovered a folding knife which is believed to have been used for stabbing.
Both teenagers were residents of Southington.
Additional security was added to the festival, including officers directing traffic around the festival, helping pedestrians at intersections, and providing security. Police were patrolling the festival area on foot, cycles, motorcycles and vehicles.
