On 24 November, 16-year-old Rishmeet Singh was found with a stab wound after officers were called to Raleigh Road in Southhall West London after 9 pm.

This was the 28th juvenile murder in the capital this year, the 27th in 2017.

The Metropolitan Police called the arrest “a significant development” but asked anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley, who is leading the investigation, said: “My thoughts are with Rishmeet’s family and friends following this development in our investigation.

“While one person is in custody, we still need someone who has any information about the incidents that led to Rishmeet’s death and come forward to talk to us.”

The investigation is being led by a murder detective from the Met Specialist Crime Command.
