First was Patrick, who impressed everyone with his £8,000 cash maker, before sailing through The Sinnerman.

Following the same suit, Linda managed to get £7,000 back on the table, taking the prize pot up to a healthy £15,000.

With Brian leaving the team’s last hopes, Afreena couldn’t beat Paul – and that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

Brian scored a whopping £6,000 in his cash builder and was offered £60,000 to entice him to take the larger sum.

However, he soon surprised everyone when he cowardly opted for an offer of minus £3,000, bringing the team’s total to £12,000.

It soon became clear that Bryan had the knowledge to cross, as host Bradley Walsh confirmed: “You are a better player than £3,000.

“I think you played very carefully at Brian’s.”

And Bradley was right as Bryan easily reached the final.

The Sinnerman immediately interrupted: “It wasn’t so much that you were a good player, but that you took away 20 percent of the funds that a player of your quality shouldn’t.”

Viewers were quick to air their thoughts on Twitter as well, with many labeling Brian a “coward”.

One user commented: “There aren’t enough poo emojis to describe Brian taking a low offer.”

Someone else said: “Always the same boring, safe competitor. Can’t see the point of all the effort for something grand each. Go up high or go home. “

For Brian, though, he went home—and with the prize money that his teammates worked hard to selflessly.

After the team answered 21 questions correctly and executed several push-backs, The Sinnerman was unable to catch them, with each contestant sharing the £12,000 winnings.

The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
