She said: ‘Sausage dogs usually have six litters. I knew cheesecake was going to have something else because of her scans, but I didn’t think ten was possible.

‘She gave birth to six within an hour, then slowed down because she was tired. I am a seasoned mother so I can relate, I felt her uterus to see if there was any more.

‘She was not a textbook at all. I gave her food and then within five minutes she gave birth to the tenth. I was stunned.

The garbage arrived on September 8.

They moved to their fur-ever home in November with the addition of Babybel, who lived with the family.

Stacy said: ‘My house was in disrepair for a few months. I initially decided to increase some pressure and bottle feed the puppies to give the cheesecake a break.

‘She’s such a great mother, she was so attentive and gentle. There was a whirlwind taking care of all of them and I was sad to see them go. Babybel fit in with my other dogs so we decided to keep her.’
