To achieve this, CD Projekt Red has announced that it will build a larger team in the coming year, and create a development team that can work on both projects at once. It also includes working on CD Projekt Red’s internal game engine, REDengine. Adjusting the game engine’s capabilities will give developers control over NPC routines and player character controls, which can be adapted and applied to multiple games simultaneously.
“All of these changes are intended to enable us to expand into multiple AAA games and parallel, starting in 2022”, said CTO Pavel Zavodny.
The studio is reportedly changing the approach of marketing campaigns for upcoming projects. Going forward, CD Projekt Red claims it will wait until its games are closer to launch than “showing things like trailers, demos, or going deeper about the mechanics”.
Board member and senior vice president of business development Micheal Nowakowski also stated that “when campaigns begin, our goal is to manage expectations properly across all platforms.” This means focusing on polished game footage, not concepts.
However, CD Projekt Red can still release early teasers of the game “early”, although concrete details will be shared only after the marketing campaign has fully commenced. Additionally, once the game’s marketing campaign has begun, the gameplay will be displayed on all of its planned platforms, rather than on the selected console or PC.
The studio is also digging out the longer development roadmap for an annual roadmap, giving gamers a more concise look at upcoming updates and releases.
The revised roadmap for 2021 includes next-gen updates Cyberpunk 2077 And The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077First DLC pack and additional patches, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, And on further development Gwent. Specific dates for these implementations are yet to be announced.
CD Projekt RED recently released the biggest patch 1.2 update Cyberpunk 2077 earlier this week. The update includes over a hundred bug fixes and improvements to open world design, cinematic design, graphics, level design and more.
