Several UK Internet service providers appeared on Thursday morning, with BT, Three, EE and Virgin thought to be affected.
The website Health Monitor DownDetector documented thousands of reports of users complaining of not being able to connect to broadband internet.
Three users began reporting problems at around 5.48am GMT, with more reporting problems at around 8.00am as the working day began.
“We are currently experiencing technical issues with some calls,” Three said in a statement posted on Twitter. “Please accept our apologies if you have been affected by this, our engineers are working hard to fix it. Check back here for updates.”
BT services shut down around 11 a.m., with some users receiving a message saying their Internet Service Provider (ISP) was down, while EE and Virgin customers also faced problems.
