NS Story, co-written by King, “will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory.”
Wonka was made famous onscreen both by novelist Roald Dahl and by Johnny Depp in 1971’s “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” from Gene Wilder and Tim Burton’s 2005 reboot “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.
“The secret is terrible, I hope it lasts… WONKA🍫” Chalamet captioned the two Instagram photos.
Warner Bros. has set a “Wonka” release date for March 2023.
“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” star Kieran Shipka shared her excitement in the comments section, writing, “Oh my god.”
“Everything about this X,” commented “Pitch Perfect” star Rebel Wilson.
Chalamet, starring in the science-fiction epic “Dune” (opening October 23), also shared a look at Wonka’s magical walking cane. The brass top of the cane opens to reveal a purple present wrapped in a full red bow.
One twitter user It called it “an extremely promising first look at Timothée Chalamet as young Willy Wonka. I love the costume design and details so far. You have my attention…”
Another Twitter user wrote, “When I die, bury me in his cheekbones.”
Taika Waititi (“Jojo Rabbit,” “Thor: Ragnarok”) is separately making a pair of animated series for Netflix, one centered on the world of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and one based on Oompa Loompa workers.
