Toronto police are seeking public assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a West-End murder.
According to a statement released by the police, on Saturday evening, he was called to a home on Stanmills Road near Islington Avenue and The Queensway for a medical complaint.
Upon arrival, police say the body of a 60-year-old woman was found at the bottom of a set of stairs, where she was pronounced dead.
On 8 September, an autopsy was performed. Since then the murder has taken over the investigation.
The victim has been identified as Rose Di Pinto of Toronto.
Police say John Di Pinto, 55, of Toronto is now wanted on a second-degree murder warrant. He did not comment on the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
In a separate news release issued by Peel Regional Police on Sunday, investigators said the suspect was last seen at a residence near Haig Boulevard and Lakeshore Road East in Mississauga City at around 11:00 a.m. on September 11.
They describe Di Pinto as being five feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He has short brown hair, a short gray beard and mustache and wears prescription glasses. It is unknown what he is currently wearing, however, he is known to wear bright green colored running shoes.
Toronto Police has since released a photo of Di Pinto. At present, investigators are gathering information about his whereabouts.
This marks the 59th murder of Toronto in 2021.
