Two kittens and cat killed in arson attack at flat

Two kittens and a cat have died in a deliberate fire in a flat in Fife.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday at around 4.15 am in the block of a flat on Keer Hardy Street in Methyl.

A 36-year-old woman left the flat at around 8 pm on Friday and police said it was believed that no one was at home since then.


Two kittens and a cat present in the flat died in the fire. No one else was injured in the block of flats.

Police are treating the fire as “intentional” and have appealed to anyone with information.

Detective Sergeant Clark Forrest of Leavenmouth CID said: “Thankfully no one was hurt within the block of flats, but the damage to property and the loss of the woman’s kittens and cat has been extremely distressing for her. .

“We’re still trying to establish the full circumstances, so I’m appealing to anyone who has any relevant information or noticed anything suspicious in the early hours of Saturday morning or perhaps in the days following the incident.” , to contact us.”
