A two-year-old girl died after falling from a pony during a hunting meeting in North Yorkshire.
The child was injured while riding with members of the Bedale Hunt on Wednesday.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance arrived at the scene after emergency services were called but the girl later died.
Bedell Hunt officials said members are “utterly devastated but pulling together” for the girl’s family.
A hunting spokesman said in a statement: “We can confirm that a tragic accident occurred on Wednesday, 15 September, when a two-year-old girl fell from her pony and subsequently lost her life.
“As a community we are all utterly devastated but coming together to support the family involved.
“Our sincere condolences are with all those affected and we urge that everyone respect the privacy of the family during this very critical time.”
The modern Bedell Hunt was formed in 2014, but its history dates back to the early 19th century, when it was founded by William Wayne, 3rd Earl of Darlington. It celebrated its bicentenary in 2016.
