A US Army soldier has been arrested in Hawaii for murdering his wife – weeks after his body was found in a barrack.

Army Spc. Naples, Fla. 25-year-old Raoul Hernández Perez was charged with the murder of his 25-year-old wife Selena Roth. Hawaii Star Advertiser reported.

Roth, who was an Army Veteran, was found dead on 13 January at Schofield Barrack.

Her family requested a welfare check, which led authorities to search her body in the trash can, Hawaii news now reported.

In a statement, Colonel Theodore Travis said, “Our brigade and army community are hurt by Selena’s death.” “We have extended our condolences to Selena’s family, friends and loved ones.”

No further details have been released about the circumstances surrounding her death, but court records indicate the couple’s relationship was deteriorating.

Roth and Hernández Perez filed for divorce in October.

The following month, Hernández Perez demanded an order of protection against his wife, claiming that she “threw” the electronics and let the air out of her car’s tires, Star Advertiser informed of.

Roth’s sister, Aubrey Rangel, wrote on a GoFundMe page that she is survived by a “beautiful young daughter who will never get a chance to know her mother.”
