Los Angeles County wants a judge to order Vanessa Bryant a psychiatric evaluation as part of her trial following the January 2020 helicopter crash in California.

Relatives of Ms Bryant and other victims have claimed that photographs taken at the scene of the fatal crash were shared by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters.

In the lawsuit, Ms Bryant has claimed she suffered severe emotional distress after learning of photos of the horrific crash that killed 13-year-old Gianna Bryant, a retired athlete, and seven others.

Ms Bryant and other families filed lawsuits last year seeking undisclosed damages for emotional distress and violations of civil rights and privacy.

After the accident it was revealed that a deputy had shown graphic images of the accident at a bar.

In a filing in the case last week, county attorneys asked Bryant to undergo an independent medical examination before trial in federal court in February 2022.

The filing said Ms Bryant “could not suffer from photographs of the crash site that she has never seen and which were never publicly circulated.”

Louis Lee stated in his “unable to defend the precarious conduct of his employees, who took and shared horrific photographs of plaintiff’s loved ones … opposing the county’s proposal.”

He also said the county’s refusal to oust Sheriff Alex Villanueva or County Fire Chief Daryl Osby in the case was “adding insult to injury.”

In June, Ms Bryant reached a confidential settlement to end lawsuits against the companies that owned and operated the helicopter, as well as the assets of the late helicopter pilot, accusing them of negligence and those of Kobe and Gianna Bryant. Wrongful cause of death.

She sued for damages in return for her loss and was joined by three other families who lost loved ones.
