Verizon’s service appears to have been shut down in large parts of the US, leaving people’s phones unable to connect to the Internet.
Users in Georgia and elsewhere complained that their network connections were broken for hours, as the problem started overnight.
Tracking website Down Detector showed a large number of users complaining of no bars on their phones, with most reports coming from around the Atlanta area – although issues were reported across the state and in Alabama and South Carolina as well. .
Users said that their phones showed zero times of service during outages, despite being in areas that would usually have good coverage.
Some reported that turning the phone off and on again brought their data connection back – but others were left in the same state after doing so.
After a significant outage, users said their connections were back online as wireless service started working once again.
