‘A viral video that appears to have been taken at Western Carolina University shows a tampon dispenser in a male bathroom with a note saying the machine was paid for using student fees.

“Western Carolina University uses student fees to fund tampons in men’s bathrooms,” said a tweet posted by Twitter account Libs of TikTok on Wednesday.

In the 14-second video, a sign can be seen on the tampon dispenser claiming the machine was on as part of a pilot program by the school’s student affairs department.

“The resources for this pilot are student fees and ancillary operating funds,” says Sanket.

A spokesman for the university told Granthshala News Digital that it is looking into the matter.

In 2019, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Men’s restrooms are called upon to include tampons to prevent discrimination against “every menstruating person”.

“While free menstrual products are not equally provided in women’s restrooms, they are almost never available in men’s restrooms, even for pay,” the group said. in a statement, “Men’s restrooms are less likely to have a place to dispose of these products easily, privately, and hygienically.”
