Carly Rae Jepsen appeared as a guest of John Carroll Kirby at one of his shows in Los Angeles this week, joining the revered multi-hyphenate to cover tracks by Kate Bush and Sade.

Attracting a packed crowd to the iconic Zebulone Lounge, Jepsen and Kirby were joined by backup singers Julia Ross and Sophie Bearley to pair Bush’s ‘Wuthering Heights’, while Rostam Batmanglij performed a scintillating rendition of Sade’s ‘Bye’ Joined in a duet with Jepsen for toward you’.

‘Wuthering Heights’ was released as Bush’s breakout single in January 1978, closing the A-side on his debut album ‘The Kick Inside’. Sade dropped Buy Your Side in October 2000, making it the lead single from her fifth album Lover’s Rock.

In A post shared on his Instagram Yesterday (October 9), Jepsen said it was “an honor to jump on stage at John’s show the other night”, calling the producer, pianist and composer a “truly incredible musician and performer” and noting that he was “a Huge fan”. .

Jepsen previously announced his fandom in an interview with Kate Bush Struggle, saying: “I’m checking on his work and I’m late to the party, but I’m gone [realising] What an incredible writer she is, even the blind. I guess if I could he would be someone I’d like to influence on the next project.
