The band took to Instagram last night (November 28) to share clips from their recent show in Los Angeles, where an audience member lost his prosthetic leg while crowdsurfing.

This prompted bassist Beefcake the Mighty to say: “If anyone’s got fake feet, or got extra fake feet, send it like this because this guy needs his fucking feet”.

The leg eventually went back to its owner as the crowd cheered as he put it back. The clip was captioned: “Not the first (or last) time someone has lost a body part in a GWAR pit. This time it was only captured on video.”

Meanwhile, GWAR recently premiered its feature-length documentary film, it’s guar, at Fantastic Fest in Texas. The film was described as a behind-the-scenes look at “humans who have struggled to keep up”. [GWAR] Surviving for more than 30 years”.

It includes never-before-seen footage of GWAR’s late founder and singer Dave Brocky – aka Oderus Urungas – as well as interviews with band members past and present. Special guest appearances from the likes of Werd Al Yankovic and other artists are also included in the documentary.

Later that same month, Dave Grohl revealed that he had joined GWAR in his teens as their drummer, and at one point had even begun sketching out their potential costume.

Grohl eventually decided against joining the shock metal costume, explaining: “Am I really going to invite my uncle to play me when fake blood and co-shoots are all over the place?”.
