Town supervisor Matt Slater told The Post that the City of Yorktown is mourning the loss of 28-year-old Jake Arkara, who was busy with the love of his life.

The accident occurred while highway workers stationed at a drainage project in the Upper Westchester community. Officials said the victim was hit by a vehicle and was taken to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The city supervisor said victim Jake Arkara was about to get married.

“He was a longtime member of our community who found his dream job at the Yorktown Highway Department,” Slater said. “He had his whole life in front of him, attached to a wonderful man.

“He was incredibly well-liked, he was well-liked in the highway department, had incredible work ethic, incredible attitude and his whole life before him. It’s absolutely unrealistic that we’re going through this. “

Slater, the city’s police chief and highway chief, informed Arkara’s mother of her son’s death. He then contacts a neighboring town’s supervisor to locate his fiancée, who is employed there “because he was about to have the worst day of his life,” Slater said grimly.

Slater noted that the senior citizen who allegedly caused the accident is also a longtime member of the community.

“The reality is it was a real tragedy,” Slater said.
