The PS5 has been around for two years now, and while stock issues have plagued the console since its launch in 2020, Restox has largely improved over the past few months. However, there’s still more drama to come as PlayStation announced in late August that it would be increasing the price of its console.

While we see consoles gradually drop in price as they go, the PlayStation 5 is doing the opposite. The price change took effect on August 25 with PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan Blaming price hikes on challenging economic environment, “We see high global inflation rates, as well as unfavorable currency trends, impacting consumers and putting pressure on many industries,” he wrote in a blog post.

“Based on these challenging economic conditions, [Sony Interactive Entertainment] has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets,” Ryan said.

Retailers are gradually changing their prices to reflect the new recommended retail price of £479.99 for the PS5 Disc Edition console and £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition console, but some haven’t yet. We’re continuing to track PS5 stock, and will keep you updated on this page with all the latest stock availability, with and without price hikes.

Where to buy PS5 in UK

Each retailer has a different schedule for when they’ll drop the PS5 on their website, and below we’ve rounded up all the major ones, along with the best ways to get the console when they arrive.

heroine Usually the PS5 releases the disc version before the PS5 digital version, so be careful if you watch one live before the other. On July 14, 2021, Amazon made the console available exclusively to Prime members for the first time. This is available for purchase only if you are a Prime customer.

Then on July 27, 2022, Amazon switched to a new invite-only system for the PS5 Disc Edition console. Customers are encouraged to register with their Amazon account to receive invitations and purchase the console. If you receive an invite, you have 72 hours to purchase it before issuing it to someone else.

Our top tips are:

  • be sure to use amazon smile – A separate website that gives a portion of the cost of your purchase to a chosen charity of your choice. Amazon Smile gets much less traffic than the regular Amazon website, so if there’s a problem, Smile should work better
  • add to console to your wishlist and then add it to your basket – apparently, people have more success this way

During previous drops in AO, customers have had to do some coding gymnastics to secure the console. This is no longer necessary, the demand for consoles is less.

For posterity, here’s what it takes to get customers to bring the console to their basket. It takes a bit of effort, but many people have seen success using it when the console is live but is showing “not in stock”. Note: This will only work if the PS5 product page is live on AO, and will require you to use Google Chrome.

  • When the PS5 product page is live, copy the PS5 product ID and save it in a safe place.
  • Navigate to a random item on AO’s website. Right-click the ‘Buy Now’ button on the random item and click ‘Inspect Element’.
  • In the Elements Inspector, replace the Product ID with the PS5’s Product ID. Click ‘Buy Now’.

You can test it out with any item on AO’s website if you want to practice a little before the next drop. The AO usually leaves the stock between 9 am and 11 am. This time only bundle is expected in stock.

Argos It’s one of a handful of retailers that have started allowing people to go into their stores and order a PS5 console from one of their tablets, but that can only be done if stock is available during the restock. . This usually makes consoles available online for people to buy with clicks and collections, with home delivery being rare.

Drops used to happen between 1 pm and 5 pm, and moved to live area by region, but that seems to have changed as the stock position is low. Stocks can now fall at any time of the day.

The last drop in Asda was on April 26, and the stock sold out within minutes. This was the second time Asda sold a PS5 bundle, which included Horizon Forbidden West And Grand Touring 7, Drops usually occur between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Asda isn’t the easiest retailer to secure a console, but we do have some tips.

Make sure all your payment details are saved ahead of time and that you have added the console to your wish list. Sometimes you are not able to check out from the main PS5 landing page, but you are able to check out from your wish list.
