This is the latest preview of the band’s new album As I Try Not to Fall Apart, due out in early 2022.
The White Lies have shared a brand new single from their upcoming album – listen to ‘I Don’t Want to Go to Mars’ below.
The track is the second preview of the trio’s new album As I Try Not to Fall Apart, which was recorded at Sleeper & Assault & Battery studios in west London with longtime collaborator Ed Buller. It arrives on February 18, 2022 and can be pre-ordered Here,
Speaking about the new song, Charles Cave of the band said: “‘I Don’t Want to Go to Mars’ has all the perverted bombshells of the White Lies, neatly packaged into a short story. Follows a character who is seemingly being taken away from Earth to live a sterile and earthly existence on a newly colonized Mars.
“Fundamentally the song questions the speed at which we are evolving the world we live in, and what it costs our wellbeing.”
Watch the band’s self-made DIY video for the track below.
Speaking about the video, drummer Jack Lawrence-Brown said: “While the song was not due for an official video, we felt the song’s strong imagery leaned towards a really visual accompaniment.
“Using old archive footage, an iPhone and our own DIY spirit, we have pieced together a visual narrative to go along with the song. Full force denial of a concept that has been following people around the world for generations now; That the grass will be on the other hand – the green of the galaxy.”
