DELE ALLI admitted last week that Tottenham’s poor form was giving him sleepless nights.
But after their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, fears may now keep him awake about his future.
Dele was left on the bench for that win and was relegated at half-time of their 3-1 loss to Arsenal a week earlier, looking to have fallen out of favor with new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo. As he did with the previous gaffer Jose Mourinho.
The midfielder and his best friend Eric Dier must cut some disappointing figures as he goes through his paces at Tottenham’s Anfield training headquarters this week, while several of his team-mates are with their countries on international duty.
It wasn’t that long ago that the pair were an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s England team.
At least Dier is still playing regularly for Spurs. Dele probably won’t be able to say anymore.
Still only 25, the player was tipped off at once as the future of English football looked to see his career drift away from him.
Disrupted by form and fitness, and hung to dry up by Mourinho and Amazon, he appears to be the shadow of a rising star who burst onto the scene after Tottenham snatched him from the Milton Keynes Dons, who, despite his current ailments, is still in the dark. The deal also remains at £5 million.

After being called ‘lazy’ by Special One, Dele showed encouraging signs, looking leaner, faster and fitter for a while when he came to pre-season training under Nuno this summer.
His focus, claiming to wander between the web of top flight fame and fortune, is also back.
The forecast was positive.
But it has all been pear-shaped in just seven matches in the Premier League season.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong with one of this country’s greatest young talents of the modern age.
But if ever a player needs a new challenge, it is Dele.
Her N17 . need to leave
Tottenham fans still love him and always will.
But you’d think if he’s going to get his mojo back he’s going to have to leave the N17 on a loan or permanent basis.
Last January he was linked with a move to join his old boss Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.
But Dele may have to lose sight of his vision after an ineffective 2021.
Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy, and his manager Jurgen Klopp would be perfect for him, but would he want him? Do they need him?
But all is not over for Dele, who must draw inspiration from his former England teammate Jesse Lingard.

The Manchester United man was in a similarly stable position at Old Trafford until an unexpected loan move to West Ham revived his Premier League and England hopes.
The same could easily happen with Dele, whose contract at Spurs runs until 2024.
He just has to take the right step.
