Euro 2020 is about to arrive and 24 nations hope it is their turn to lift the trophy this time.

Portugal will be out to defend the crown it won in Paris five years ago, while France and England will join major European nations that are expected to taste success this summer as well.

But who will be the one to claim success in the tournament? And how well can Gareth Southgate’s men do? sportsmailPundits and columnists give their opinion…

Portugal five years ago Euro 2020. I will be out to defend the crown I won in Paris

Peter Crouch

Who’s going to win it?

France. He has many great players.

How will England do it?

I am very much looking forward to a good run in the competition. We will win our group and beat Germany or Portugal.

We have some great players but one of my concerns is how our defense is going to face a great striker.

Micah Richards

Who’s going to win it?

Portugal. They have excellent players and they have the habit of winning tournaments. The team has to beat.

How will England do it?

I’m really excited about our prospects. I love that we have so many young, fearless players. I don’t think we will win it but they are going to give us some fun along the way.

Like England, Micah Richards has many young, fearless players like Phil Foden (right) and Jude Bellingham (left).

Chris Sutton

Who’s going to win it?

France. Joe is one of the superstars and Kylian Mbappe has been able to treat this tournament as his playground.

How will England do it?

I can see England reaching the semi-finals but just like in 1996, Wembley missed out on a place in the final. I hope to be proven wrong, though!

Martin Keon

Who’s going to win it?

France. It’s going to be a mouth-watering battle in these Euros with so many top sides – all four of the World Cup semi-finalists – as well as Holland and Italy!

How will England do it?

They can go very far, but it won’t be easy. Win the group and England immediately face the runners-up from the ‘Group of Death’.

steph houghton

Who’s going to win it?

Portugal. Mainly because of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Dias – they will each play important roles.

How will England do it?

Along with attacking players – Grealish, Ken, Foden, Mount – they are a threat to anyone. If they have some confidence, they can go further.

Jamie Redknapp

Who’s going to win it?

Portugal. With Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo he has what it takes to retain his title.

How will England do it?

They have a great chance! I really hope the players can enjoy it and make some happy memories at Wembley. They can definitely make it to the semi-finals.

Jamie Redknapp and Houghton also believe that Reuben Dias' presence could keep them at it.

Gordon Strachan

Who’s going to win it?

Portugal. They have good attacking players in Ruben Dias and the best central defender in England.

How will England do it?

They will be disappointed if they don’t reach the semi-finals. They are essentially at home and will not have much travel to do. It’s a huge advantage for Gareth and his players.
