Woody Harrelson claims he acted in self-defense on Wednesday when he was approached by a man who would not stop taking pictures of him.

An incident report obtained by Granthshala News shows officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to an alleged simple assault incident involving 60-year-old Harrelson at the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC on Wednesday night.

According to the report, Harrelson informed police that she had a verbal altercation with a man who “bent on her” in an attempt to “grab her neck”. Harrelson then claimed to police that he “in his defence” punched the alleged attacker’s neck.

Police have not identified the alleged attacker. As of Thursday afternoon, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department said charges against the attacker were still pending. Harrelson is believed to be the victim and has not been charged with any crime.

The reason for the assault was not mentioned in the incident report. However, NBC 4 reports that Harrelson punched the man because he wouldn’t stop taking pictures of him and his daughter.

Harrelson is in DC filming “The White House Plumber” for HBO. The series is about the Watergate scandal. Justin Theroux is also associated with the project.

Reps for Harrelson did not immediately return Granthshala News’ request for comment.
