Woody Harrelson ‘punched man in self-defense’ at Washington hotel

An altercation broke out after man took pictures of Harrelson and his daughter

Woody Harrelson allegedly punched a man in self-defense during a brawl at a hotel in Washington DC.

On Wednesday night (October 6) around 11 p.m., police were called after being informed of an attack on the roof of The Watergate Hotel.

According to police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck, Harrelson hit a man who “lung” at the actor, believing he acted “in self-defense.”


Police believe the intoxicated man was taking pictures of Harrelson and his daughter. The actor is said to have “contacted the man and requested him to remove the pictures”.

After the man refused, an altercation broke out between them, where the man “pulled” towards the actor in an attempt to “catch his neck”. Harrelson is said to have punched her “in the neck in defense of herself”.

According to witness accounts (via) NBC Washington), police believe the other person, not Harrelson, was the attacker. Harrelson was not charged for the incident.
